Think making websites is difficult? Think they can be expensive? You think this leaves you little option but to do without? Well, that’s been true for many small businesses until now; until HTML5, the webs new gift and [arguably] the future of the intent.
HTML5 is the updated version of the online code used to build websites. HTML5 adds many new syntactical features, including the new <video>, <audio> and <canvas> elements, as well as the integration of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) content that replaces the uses of generic <object> tags. Or in layman’s terms, these new features are designed to make it significantly easier for the average person to include and handle multimedia and graphical content, without the need for complex code, plug-ins or APIs.
Some of the best showcases of this new magic come in the form of two interactive music experiences: Arcade Fires’s ‘The Wilderness Downtown’ and OK Go X Pilobulos’ ‘All is Not Lost’. Both were built with Google Chrome team to showcase the advanced web technologies allowing people to see a new virtual world.
We hear you, “Yeah, but… there’s no way I could do that”. How wrong you are. With Wix.com you can produce outstanding websites with little technical knowledge at all, and with20 million users already, we think you’ll be in good company.
“With the HTML5 launch WIX users have an even greater freedom to create ultra-modern and user-friendly websites that best cater to their needs” says Omer Shai, VP of Marketing at Wix.
Whether you’re a photographer, work B2B, are a consultancy firm or merely want to promote yourself as a sole trader – Wix is for you. Notably, HTML websites work across all devices, from Macs to PCs, Ipads to smartphones. So you’ll be glad to know, you can all breathe a sigh of collective relief.
“HTML provides new technical capabilities and solutions for products that don’t support Flash” Shai said. “The majority of browsers support HTML5 now and its market share is growing very quickly. The popularity of mobile browsing is on a constant rise and HTML5 is compatible across the web”
We’re sure some people will argue that there is no quick way to build a website or blog, and that anything in life worth having never came easy, but sadly, we can’t agree. And whilst there are more complex [and possibly superior] solutions such as Basekit and Squarespace, both are paid for, and definitely don’t suit everyone. What WIX does so well is offer a route to online markets for a company that possesses little money or technical resource, and that, if you ask us, is something worth celebrating.
Please let us know if you found this article useful, especially if you are thinking about using, or already have used WIX.
